Hello from Seychelles!
When I joined WiseOceans a few months ago, I knew I was stepping into something special, a place where passion meets purpose, and where protecting our oceans is at the heart of everything we do. But even knowing that, nothing could have fully prepared me for the adventure, the growth, and the incredible experiences that lay ahead!
Diving In
From the very first day, it was clear that working with WiseOceans was not going to be a typical job. The hands-on work began right away, and I quickly found myself immersed in the beauty and complexity of coral reef restoration. The thrill of diving down to check on our restoration sites and witnessing the gradual regrowth of coral colonies has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey so far. It’s a reminder of the resilience of nature and how even small efforts can lead to big changes over time.
New Faces, New Lessons
Now a full-time staff member, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people I have ever met. One of the biggest learning curves has been finding my balance in managing multiple aspects of my role. There have been challenging moments, of course, but with every obstacle comes growth, and I have been lucky to have such a supportive team by my side throughout.

Whilst balancing my role and personal commitments has often been challenging, being part of the team has given me space to grow, the learn from my mistakes and has shown me what I am capable of!
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on these first few months, I feel nothing but excitement for what’s to come. There’s still so much to learn, and I’m eager to continue contributing to the incredible work we do here at WiseOceans. Every day, whether it’s monitoring coral health, engaging with our community, brings a new opportunity to make a difference. The ocean teaches us patience and persistence, both of which have been key lessons for me during this time. As I continue to grow in my role, I’m excited to see how these next few months unfold and what new challenges and adventures lie ahead!
