Welcome to WiseOceans at Club Med Seychelles
Tucked away in the Seychelles archipelago, Saint Anne Island is the picturesque setting for Club Med Seychelles. Surrounded by the Ste Anne Marine Park, this island is a vibrant home to diverse marine life, from reef sharks to turtles to tropical fish, and a lot more! Our Marine Discovery Centre is set against a backdrop that looks straight out of a painting—clear blue waters and lush greenery as far as the eye can see. This serene spot is a haven for anyone passionate about the ocean. For me, it’s a place where every day is an opportunity to connect with nature and share its wonders.
Marine Discovery Centre
Our Marine Discovery Centre is more than just a beautiful space; it’s a hub of discovery and learning. Through our collaborative Marine Discovery Programme, guests can explore the adjacent marine life though engaging and fun activities. From snorkeling trails that allow them to explore the vibrant reefs up close to our coral nursery aimed at promoting recovery of biodiversity, there’s something for every ocean enthusiast at Club Med Seychelles.

A Day in the life of a Marine Biologist
My life as a marine biologist at Club Med Seychelles is anything but ordinary. I’ve spent three incredible months here, each day filled with discovery and delight. Currently, WiseOceans operates at the resort twice a week, and those days are the highlight of my week. One of my favourite parts of the day is watching juvenile sharks from the resort’s jetty. Their playful presence is a constant reminder of the vibrant life we’re here to protect.
My mornings usually kick off with leading the “Snorkel with the Marine Biologist” activity. Accompanied by a fellow CMS staff, I guide guests through the vibrant reefs, sharing fun and quirky facts about the marine life we encounter. Did you know that parrot fish poop sand? Guests are always amazed to learn this fun tidbit!
After the snorkel, I head to our coral nurseries for some hands-on conservation work. This is a quiet, reflective time where I tend to the young corals and check on their growth. I often take this time to do some maintenance at the nurseries as well. The company of our resident sergeant fish and Leo the batfish adds a touch of companionship, making the work feel less like a chore and more like a shared adventure.

One of my most favourite activities at the MDC is the “Marine Conversations” we hold with guests. These sessions are a fantastic exchange of stories and knowledge about the ocean. I love hearing guests’ experiences and learning from them. For instance, did you know that corals can be used as human bone grafts? Neither did I until an orthopaedic surgeon shared her expertise during one of these sessions! It’s moments like these that make each day special and enrich my own understanding of the ocean.
Life in the Seychelles
Living in the Seychelles offers a peaceful and refreshing break from the usual hustle and bustle. Located in the Eastern Indian Ocean, this island nation is known for its tranquil, slow-paced lifestyle surrounded by lush greenery. Each day here is a chance to appreciate the simple pleasures of island life. The Seychelles’ calm and verdant environment is a refreshing contrast to my home country of Mauritius, which has its own unique charm but with a different energy. It has been mesmerizing to be living here for the past three months.
But if I had to pick my absolute favorite thing about living here, it would be the sunsets. In the Seychelles, sunsets are a quiet, beautiful part of daily life. As the day winds down, the sky gradually shifts to soft hues of orange, pink, and purple. Each evening, I make it a point to catch the sunset from the hilltop or at the beach. It’s my personal moment of peace and reflection, a daily ritual that I value deeply.
Living in the Seychelles, for me, is not just about the picturesque scenery but also about embracing a lifestyle that values simplicity, community, and a deep connection with nature.
